Privacy policy

1. Who we are

Torsa Trails is a travel business run by a local team based in Chalsa, Dist: Jalpaiguri, West Bengal 735206, run by Nehal Darjee and Koushik Dey. You can reach us at torsatrails@gmail.com or +91 99320 32214.

2. What we collect

When you fill in a form or message us, we may get:

• your name and WhatsApp number
• your travel dates or month, and how many people are coming
• your pickup point and budget, if you share them
• anything you tell us in the notes, on WhatsApp, by email or on a call, such as ages, health needs or food preferences
• for the trip itself, a photo ID for each traveller when a safari, permit or stay asks for it

We also note which page or Instagram post brought you to us, so we know what's working. That note isn't linked to anything else about you.

3. Why we use it

• To reply to you and send your day-wise plan.
• To book your stays, car, guides, safaris and permits.
• To look after you during the trip and reach you if plans change.
• To send receipts for your payments.

We won't add you to a mailing list or send you offers unless you ask us to.

4. Who else sees it

Only the people who need it to make your trip happen, and only the part they need:

• hotels and homestays, for your booking
• our drivers and local guides, for pickup and the day plan
• forest, park and permit offices, which ask for names and ID for safaris and entry

We also use a few everyday tools to run the business: Google Sheets and Gmail (where website enquiries are saved and emailed to us), WhatsApp (where we talk with you), and Cloudflare (which hosts this website and, like any web host, handles basic technical data such as IP addresses to keep it running and secure). Each of these services has its own privacy policy, and some may store data on servers outside India.

5. How long we keep it

• If you only sent an enquiry, we delete it after 12 months.
• If you travelled with us, we keep your booking details for up to 3 years. That helps when you come back, and keeps our accounts in order.
• Copies of ID are deleted within 30 days of your trip ending.

6. Your choices

You can ask us at any time to:

• show you what we have about you
• correct anything that's wrong
• delete your details, unless you're in the middle of a trip with us
• stop messaging you
• stop using your details altogether (if you're mid-booking, this may mean we can't complete your trip)

Send a WhatsApp or an email and we'll sort it out within 7 days. If you're not happy with how we handled it, you can also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

7. Cookies and analytics

This website doesn't use cookies or tracking tools, so there's no cookie banner. If we ever add a simple visit counter, we'll say so on this page first.

8. Children

We only take details about children from the parent or guardian planning the trip.
